I have never really written all this down before, but going to give it a try. I moved here with two of my daughters almost 11 years ago. Myself and whatever is here reside along comfortably together, I am not afraid to live here. Its just interesting what kind of things happen. Though not as much as at some places!
This house was an old flour mill in the 1800s and was moved here around 1920. When I bought it, it needed much fixing up and we are still in the process!
One of the first incidents that told me that we were "not alone" was one night after I shut the lights out, I felt "somebody" sit on the edge of my bed. I was startled and practically FLEW to turn on the light. Of course there was no one there.
My youngest daughter used to see shadows in the hall and standing in front of her room. I am not sure why she was never really frightened, but thats the "feel" of this house. Non-threatening.
One day my middle daughter and I were sitting at the kitchen table, when a series of knocks came upon one of the kitchen doors leading into my oldest girls room. No one was in there at the time.
In October a couple of years ago, a "shadow man" went by the outside front door. It kind of glided.
We used to hear a lot of bumps and noises in the attic but havent for a couple of years now. We do not have a pest problem, so its anybodys guess what that was. It wasnt the whole old house settling thing though.
Once when my kids were coming inside when it was getting dark, they said they saw someone in my oldest daughters downstairs room. What is interesting about this is there was a teacher that passed away while living here, in that room.
Whenever we do any sort of work on the house, we usually hear someone in that area at night, as though they are checking it out.
The only thing that DID make the hair really stand up on the back of my neck happened outside.Twice. I had been taking the garbage out late at night, when I distinctly heard from around the side of the house "MOM!!!!". I thought, what the he**?? Both girls were in bed. I went over to see what my oldest girl (the voice I heard) wanted and of course, no one was there. So I just thought I was maybe imagining things. The next week, the same thing happened, only with my youngest daughters voice. Not since but then I dont generally take the garbage out in the evening anymore....
I am sure I am missing some experiences, but these are the ones that I can remember off the top of my head. Again, I love my house, its the only place I have ever lived that actually felt "safe".
