I had the pleasure of checking out Manteno with some friends from Chicago Ghost Hunters. Roger, his son, myself and Lenny went to check out this old insane asylum. It was creepy and dark, more like pitch black. We all said we felt uncomfortable while in there, a thickness, and heaviness on our chests. Roger and Lenny did camcorders and I did digital pics. Roger also did EVP's. It was crazy to think this place (huge many buildings) housed 8000 patients until they closed their doors in 1995. While going from room to room( we found out later we were in the womens ward ) we asked questions and took pics, explored the many rooms, and hoped we would capture something. I did in my pics with the mist....when blown up I swear you see womens faces and a woman standing in the doorway. Roger captured an EVP with HELP ME and followed by either screams or squealing pigs. I'm not sure as I only heard it over the phone but the help me, is as clear as day! As we left we felt better. It's sad to think that there are that many (even more) sick people in the world. What kind of torture they must have been exposed to. I enjoyed my visit there and will go again some time. But so glad Roger didn't play that EVP while we were there, I would have pissed my pants!!
I had the pleasure of joining Chicago Ghost Hunters, on an investigation of White Cemetery in Cuba Township, Elgin, IL. It is said that it is highly haunted and that you can see older cars driving down the road with cigar smoking men. However we weren't that lucky as the cemetery is on a busy street to begin with. I took many pics and got giant orbs. Never got them so big...you would swear it was the moon, but there wasn't a full moon last night. After that we went to Robinson Burial Grounds, in Rosemont, IL. We took a few pics in the wooded area and got a few orbs. But by far White Cemetery had the best pics. I'll post a few for you to see.

I want to go to Waverly TB Sanitarium in Louisville, KY on Oct 23rd. Go to Waverly on the 24th and home on the 25th. Anyone interested in joining me? Laura
Last Saturday night with the full moon, we went on a ghost hunt in VA. The tour guide was something else. He talked with his eyes closed, and my daughter thought perhaps he was reading his eyelids...lol, and as he talked with his eyes closed, he was reaching his arms out, and I said he looked more like a preacher. Anyway he said something (not sure what it was) and he takes off walking. Well this dude was a power walker! We were jogging, trotting and running to keep up with him!! He took us to a lot of places in VA, the Governors house, where we caught some orbs, the Capitol building, more orbs, and this old factory where there used to be a tunnel for a train used during slavery, but since collapsed and has been filled in. There we caught tons of orbs, and a face in a window. Went to other places like an old field hospital during the civil war and a mason building. He told stories of places along the way and as we crossed the canal and walked up hills there were orbs all along the way. Finally we get back to where we started Edgar Allen Poe Museum (he was a creepy guy) and he takes us back in, and shuts off the lights and locks the doors. I was like wow....what is someone going to jump out at us to scare us now? But he went on to tell us some strange happenings in the museum, like they have these Edgar dolls and one day 4 of them were out of the packages and all lined up on the floor, or how people get married in the enchanted garden behind the museum, and always see two children at the wedding. A little boy and a little girl. People ask who they are and no one knows. He stated that the children will come out to play in the garden during the day too. We weren't lucky enough to catch their images, but then again it was late at night so they could have been sleeping. lol Although I had to run, jog, trot, and broke out in a glisten (women don't sweat) hehe, I enjoyed the stories and taking the pics and had a good time.
I was very lucky to be invited by Dark Poet and his crew to go with and investigate the Country House in Clarendon Hills, IL. I met up with the crew and learned the history of the hauntings there. A woman was jilted by her bartender boyfriend, and got in her car and drove off with her child, and ran into a light post and they both were killed. The story goes that in the main window (which used to be the front of the restaurant) people see a woman in the window beckoning them to come in. People have heard foot steps, and a baby crying as well as the staff that work there, had some very interesting stories. They used to have a jukebox that would turn on by itself with no one around, but have since replaced that one.
We headed to the storage area above the restaurant and had video cameras going, and I had my 2 digital cameras and my thermometer with me. At first not much activity, and once Dark Poet started doing EVP's he and I saw a white light on the ceiling. Another crew member starting calling out come on show yourself, I'm gettin impatient. Right after that he yelled oh shit...I thought it was because he dropped his flashlight, but he said no someone touched me. We tunred on the lights and he had 3 scratch marks on his arm. This person didn't have any nails at all, that he could have done it to himself. That was the first time I experienced something like that. We did catch a few orbs on camera but that's about it. Not sure what they captured on video, hope it was something good. I really enjoyed Dark Poet and his crew and had a great time that night, and look forward to going with them again on another investigation.
Well today proved to be "unlucky" for me........my car engine blew up while in route to the United Center, to take my son to meet his traveling league for the celebration of Kane being Rookie of the year. Needless to say we never made it. Two gentlemen tried to assist us, while we waited for the tow truck, but that wasn't happening. lol Then the cop sees us stopped in the middle of the street, and said..."what's the problem? " We replied the car broke down, hence the flashers flashing. I really wanted to say, well I got tired of driving so I thought I would take a break.......duh! After an hour of waiting for the tow truck, and trying to find someone to take my kids home, I finally made it to the mechanics and my luck changed. He had a Mercury SUV for sale, so needing a car, I bought it. Then all we did was run all over all day to change the title, transfer plates, etc. Then I finally went and got my new camera, (I was so excited) only to find out when I got home and actually looked at it.......no flash built in. So back it's going. So needless to say Friday the 13th, was unlucky, lucky, and not so lucky after all for me. Hope the rest of you had a great day.
Last October myself and a friend took a trip to Gettysburg, PA to do some ghost hunting. Gettysburg is known as one of the most haunted places, with the town being built over the battlefield. Almost every place there has ghosts, a story, or haunting's to tell. Bruce and I stayed at the Colton Inn, which was across from a cemetery, and actually the motel sat lower than the cemetery itself. We had a ghaust meter, inferred thermometer, a voice recorder, and digital cameras. The first night in our motel room we were dragging in the cooler, and our belongings, and we were standing at the foot of the bed. We happened to be facing each other and noticed that suddenly, the pillow on the bed was going flat, as if someone was lying down on it. The ghaust meter would go off so much, that at night we had to take the batteries out. The next morning I left Bruce in the room, and I went to get coffee and walk around the town. I was gone about an hour when I returned to the room. I knocked on the door, since I didn't take the key with me. Bruce looked pale and said Laura you weren't just in here? I said how could I be in there if I am out here, and you have the key? I walked in the room and Bruce went on to tell me that, he was sleeping in the bed, and he felt someone sit down on the foot of the bed, but he thought it was me. He said he then felt like someone was taking their hands and tapping them up to the top of the bed, along the side of the bed where he was laying. Suddenly he said he felt an electric charge go through his body, and then he got up. Freaky huh? Another time I was lying on the bed and Bruce was in the bathroom, and I noticed shadows on the wall, and yelled out to Bruce.....what are you doing? He said I am in the bathroom, and where the bathroom was and where I was, there was no way he could have made the shadows appear.
We went out to the battlefields to take pics and look around. We did a lot in the evening when the sun was down, which made it more exciting. While on the battlefields, we could smell leather, hear horses, smell pipe smoke, and got some odd evps. Once on the battlefield, the ghaust meter died, we took one picture each and our cameras died, so we decided to leave and come back another night. As we left the battlefield, everything started working again.
We took a tour of Jennie Wades Home, she was the only civilian killed at that time. Right outside on the main street I took a picture and I caught hundreds of orbs. I bet if we stayed a little longer, (we were on a tour) all the orbs would have joined together to form a being. Inside the Wade home I caught a few orbs, and ectoplasm's on mirrors. They claim mirrors are very active with spirits.
We visited Devils Den, but only got a few orbs there. Another place we visited at night was Spring Hill. Talk about a scary place. We used the thermometer in this area, and you could see sudden temperature changes from 70 degrees down to 30. WOW! We sat to take a photo in one area and it suddenly got very cold, and when we saw the pic, there was this odd red thing behind us. We went back to Spring Hill during the day, and it was so peaceful, and beautiful the area, nothing like at night. During the Battle this area was used for people to gather and have picnics during the day. It has a totally different feeling at night though.
The scariest thing that happened on the whole trip was, the last night we were there, Bruce and I were in bed going to sleep. He was on the right side of the bed and me on the left, with our backs facing each other, with plenty of room between us and the sheet pulled taunt. Suddenly I felt the sheet coming down between us and something or someone touched my arm. I got scared and pushed myself next to Bruce and said hold me and don't let me go, did you feel that? He said he did, after that he said he couldn't sleep all night.
We had a wonderful magical trip to Gettysburg and I highly suggest that everyone experience it once in their life.
